Nikki Adler is one of the most renowned women in Boxing and has held

several international titles including the World Boxing Council (WBC) super-

middleweight title which she held between 2013-2017.

The Croatian-German boxing champion has extended her passion for

mentoring young female boxers to the rural community of Moutse in the

Limpopo Province where she will be opening her second boxing school (the

first is in Germany). Nikki has partnered with Ndlovu Care Group to empower

young women through boxing and self-defense classes in an effort to

proactively address the global scourge of Gender-based Violence (GVB)

affecting women and girls.

The Boxing School is an extension of Ndlovu Care Group’s PowerGirls

Programme which aims to empower vulnerable young girls from poor

backgrounds to overcome adversities and reach their full potential.

Ndlovu Care Group is no stranger to opening up international opportunities

for the youth in rural Moutse. The NPO is well-known for having brought us

the global sensation that is the Ndlovu Youth Choir which went on to make

it to America’s Got Talent (AGT) finals in 2019. Both the Choir and the new

Boxing school form part of an array of Childcare and Youth Development

Programmes offered by Ndlovu Care Group which include Sport, After School

Programme, Early Childhood Development and a Nutritional programme for

young children. The Child and Youth Development Programmes have always

focused on creating resilience, physical and mental wellness and facilitating

life skills for vulnerable youth and this is yet another initiative which is in line

with this approach.

This momentous launch of the Nikki Adler Boxing School will be taking

place on Friday, 9th September 2022 at the Ndlovu Sports Centre in

Elandsdoorn, Limpopo.

One aspiring young female boxer who will train directly with Nikki in Germany

is Rina Mutha who hails from the village of Moutse. She, like many other

women in South Africa, has been impacted by GBV and hopes that this

initiative will help her and many other young women feel empowered.

The CEO of Ndlovu Care Group, Dr Hugo Tempelman, sees this monumental

partnership as a much-needed initiative in proactively empowering young

girls in a world where they constantly have to protect themselves against

perpetrators – whether in their homes or out in public.
